Abstract. This study examines the essence of equine-assisted therapy, the possibilities for its implementation and development as a method for influencing physical and mental health. The terminology associated with activities carried out with the help of horses was reviewed, in which there is often no clear distinction between the different elements. This draws attention to the need for a clear definition of the terminology. The lack of a regulatory framework, opportunities for professional training in the country and, accordingly, the shortage of qualified personnel stand out as major obstacles to the future development of the sector
